Inspiration has no limits and color is our passion
My name is Isabel Espinosa. I am a jewelry designer and quilt maker. I have been fortunate to have traveled quite extensively and lived for extended periods in the United States, South America, Caribbean and Africa. Through a number of incredibly rewarding visits and by meeting remarkable people I learned that even the smallest piece of fabric or ostensibly discarded material has a value. My philosophy is that nothing should be thrown away. My love for art grew out of efforts to find unique and colorful stones and re-use scraps of fabric to create new and beautiful products, and it has only grown from there.
I was especially delighted to discover the tagua nut in South America, also known as “natural ivory”. Tagua is an environmentally friendly alternative to elephant ivory, which continues to be the subject of international trade and commercial bans to reduce poaching. Tagua is a natural by-product of palm trees and Ecuador fulfills most of the world’s demand. My use of this exotic, vibrant, natural, and exciting seed gives my designs an original and unique touch. The natural ivory color can be painted in various hues and crafted in different shapes. I also enjoy working with semi-precious stones in their natural beauty, cultured freshwater pearls, river stones and silver. My jewelry designs blend different stones, fabrics, shapes and colors to produce sophisticated, unique, and breathtaking combinations.
In one of our family adventures and thanks to many quilter friends, I also learned to design and hand-quilt a range of crafts, including table runners, place mats, coasters, pillows and bed quilts of all sizes. I combine color and themes in vibrant ways.
Each day I am inspired by the beauty of life, nature and cultures. My goal is to express my vision in my work, from the most basic keychain to the most elaborate quilt. This is the place to find original, sophisticated jewelry and quilts, at a very reasonable price.
* All our products are handmade in a smoke and pet free studio *
The following pages are representative samples of my work. I can also custom design jewelry or quilts at your request.
